In an article published today in the New England Journal of Medicine, Peter Jüni, Andreas Limacher and Eveline Nüesch from ISPM and CTU Bern, together with an international group of investigators, report on the benefits of modern percutaneous coronary intervention as compared with medical therapy in patients with stable coronary artery disease. The results are in line with a network meta-anaysis published by Stephan Windecker, Bruno da Costa, Anne Rutjes, Peter Jüni et al on the same topic in the BMJ several weeks ago. In a related paper published today in the Lancet , Dik Heg along with researchers from ISPM and Inselspital describes the performance of a novel drug-eluting stent in patients with myocardial infarction or stable coronary artery disease.
